HTML terminology. Abbreviation for Alternative Text, it is an <img> property that is used as a placeholder when the image is loading.
AltaVista -
One of the most popular search engines of yesteryears. Now barely used, and owned by Yahoo
Anchor Text -
This is the actual text part of a link. It is used heavily by search engines as a ranking factor. Instead of using a 'click here for more' link, it is preferable to use relevant keywords in the link text e.g. 'Additional customer comments'.
